Tastings and Tours

Picture
May - December: Everyday from 11am - 5pm.
January to April: By appointment.

Our tasting room is located in the house of winemaker J. Simon Watso - the 100 year old house and barn overlook acres of beautiful grape vineyards.

Tastings are free. We must forewarn you, however, our tastings are a presentation, meaning that we have a specific order that we follow and it's non-negotiable - although we're happy to skip to the sweet wines if Dry Riesling and Chardonnay aren't your taste. Likewise, we can just taste our dry wines if you aren't a fan of Concords and Niagaras. Each wine has its own story, and the method to our madness is designed to bring out the best flavor and tastes of each.

Our gift shop carries a unique selection of wine accessories, apparel, gifts, Yancey's Cheeses, and more.

We can comfortably serve groups up to 25 people. Please call ahead if there are going to be more than eight people in your party. Regretfully we cannot accommodate coach buses, our farm-house driveway isn't large enough for these buses to park and turn around safely.

How To Find Us:

We're right off Route 20 in Ripley in about the exact middle of the wine trail. From Route 20, follow the signs for Schloss Doepken Winery onto Old Route 20. Make a right at the T and then follow that road down to the cul-de-sac at the end. Take the dirt driveway up to find our tasting room and vineyards. We're about 20 minutes from Northeast, PA (the western edge of the wine trail) or Fredonia (the eastern edge).

If you're visiting from Jamestown or the Southern Tier, take I-86 to Exit 6 in Sherman. Follow NYS 76 North until you reach Ripley, then make a right onto Route 20 East. Follow the directions above once you reach Old Route 20 and start seeing the signs for us.

If you're coming from Buffalo, Erie, or other places further afield, take the New York State Thurway (I-90) to Exit 60 (Westfield/ Mayville). Make a left onto NYS 394 East, follow that for about a mile and a half until you get to Route 20. Make a right and follow Route 20 until you begin seeing signs for the winery. Then follow the directions above to find us.
